The modx forums are a wonderful place and make modx what it is. This post highlights the international users and some of the lightheartedness amongst our community members.
This was a question posed here in the modx forums by dev_cw.
Not to post the entire thread, here is a list of some of the variations phonetically with some international improvisations thrown in:
dev_cw: "I have always thought of it as mod-x, where the mod sounds like the mod in "mod squad" or "module". However I recently watched a video tour of modx in youTube (very good video series on modx BTW) where the author pronounces it mode-x."
dev_cw goes on to offer his first pronunciation: mod-cheez; his explanation:
"I have always thought of it as mod-x, where the mod sounds like the mod in "mod squad" or "module". However I recently watched a video tour of modx in youTube (very good video series on modx BTW) where the author pronounces it mode-x."
breezer: "..."Mahhhd x" :) but then again I'm a redneck lol."
charliez: "one of my clients, in Mexico, wrote it -- modecs -- maybe he had in mind the Aztec Codecs or something..."
Darkelve78:"since I'm Belgian, I'd pronounce it Modx-ix ... well Belgian people can be a little strange though... :x"
modx co-founder rthrash (Ryan Thrash) has this to offer: ""mod" as in modular, "x" as extendable. "modx" (mahd ecks)"
Kristalin: "...in Bulgarian is: МОД-ЕКС (like ~ "mode - ex" )"
There were clear objections to mode-ex (I don't really care for it either) and there were a number of friendly Americans from the south who like their short aaahhh in maaahd-ex.
We don't really care how you pronounce it as long as you love it.
Why not share your pronunciation with us.
