Today we’re happy to announce improvements to MODX Cloud. MODX Cloud users will be able to serve sites faster and work more quickly in the Dashboard. MODX Manager Themers and Site Builders will be able to use MODX Cloud to test their existing sites in the upcoming MODX Revolution 2.3 release, its biggest release in years.
An Ongoing Commitment to UX
Making sure our users have a good experience using the MODX Cloud Dashboard is important to us. MODX Cloud users should notice improved responsiveness in the Dashboard, allowing them to work more fluidly. To go with this, an updated User Guide provides better instructions for SSL, working with Snapshots for large sites, and more.
Logging into the streamlined Dashboard takes you straight to the Clouds page so you can get to work faster. You’ll also find a new “What’s new” link in the header so you can stay up to date as we continue to make improvements and add features to MODX Cloud.
For users on our Laboratory, Standard, Professional, Business and Enterprise plans, we’ve simplified the process of changing a Cloud’s type (e.g. from Development to Production). Clouds are no longer moved (snapshotted, destroyed and recreated) when you change their type. This makes launching your sites into production faster, simpler and less error prone.
Updated PHP & Nginx
MODX Cloud now runs on the latest stable branches of Nginx (1.6) and PHP (5.4). In addition to the incremental performance improvments, bugfixes and security updates these bring, we're also validating SPDY for Nginx to make MODX Cloud sites faster and safer. Improvements like these mean site owners benefit from quicker response times and shorter load times in MODX Cloud.
Finally, with the accelerating Community participation in MODX Revolution development, we answered your calls to make preview releases available in MODX Cloud. Now you can see what’s coming next and start testing your sites in the biggest thing to come to MODX since MODX Revolution itself. To install a pre-release version, scroll to the bottom of the list when choosing which version to install, or upgrade a Snapshot of an existing site.
