MODX Revolution 2.7.1

MODX contributors and the integration team are proud to announce the first patch release of MODX Revolution 2.7. MODX 2.7.1 features many bug fixes to improve the experience of working with all of the new features that 2.7 introduced.

Highlights

You can get a full list of changes by reviewing the changelog, but below are some of the significant revisions in this release.

  • If a validation error occurs when saving an element, it now switches to the tab relevant to the issue.
  • Introduced an option to prevent removal of static files if automated static files are turned off.
  • The display of information about missing dependencies when you install a package/extra is improved.
  • A number of XSS (cross-site scripting) issues that require authenticated manager sessions were addressed in the manager.

Security is a Habit

Staying up-to-date with new releases is a good habit to keep your MODX-powered website as secure as possible. While no critical security issues appear in version 2.7.0, we recommend you upgrade as soon as possible. If you run a MODX site with manager users who may seek to cause harm or damage to other manager users, it would be a good idea to upgrade to 2.7.1 to mitigate XSS vulnerabilities that could be exploited.

It Takes a Village…

The release would not be possible without the attention and effort of our community contributors, including Ivan Klimchuck, Thomas Jakobi, Joshua Lückers, Mark Hamstra, Jason Coward, Christian Seel, tolanych, Sander Drenth, Ruslan Aleev, Ivan Bochkarev, ilyautkin, Travis Botello, Bakhtovar Gulomov, Jake Scaltreto, and AgelxNash.
