MODX: The Official Guide Available for Pre-Order

MODX: The Official Guide

It's been well over a year in the works; long-time community member Bob Ray has authored the first (and most awesome) MODX book from MODX Press, our new in-house publishing company.

There have been a number of other English language books on MODX. However, none were written by a member of the MODX community and none with the depth of knowledge of MODX—and certainly not with the experience as a teacher, guide and mentor—that Bob Ray has in the MODX Forums and his own site Bob's Guides where you can learn lots about MODX and baking bread.

MODX: The Official Guide is a 772 page reference and how-to manual for both MODX Revolution and Evolution. The goal of the book is to provide all the information you need to use the basic building blocks of MODX to meet your needs as a web designer/developer. Although the book focuses on MODX Revolution, many of the concepts explained apply to MODX Evolution as well, therefore, at the end of each chapter you'll find notes for MODX Evolution.

This book stands alone in its comprehensive coverage of the fundamentals of MODX. Whether you're a site builder, designer or down-and-dirty developer, this book is a must-have.

Hi. We’re MODX.

We’re here to help you fix, build and grow fantastic sites. How can we help?

MODX Diagnostics

MODX’s Open Source software is 100% free for anyone to download and use. As the team behind it for more than a decade, we know it inside, out, and then some.

Like any software, sometimes things break; we can usually fix them very fast. But, we do have to charge for our time to support our families and fund its ongoing development. There are almost an unlimited variety of things that can cause problems, including server upgrades, corrupt files, accidental changes, outdated software, database hiccups and more. We will save you a lot of time and frustration, and get you back in action.

With our MODX Diagnostic service, we determine the source of issues, and often fix them on the spot. For more extensive problems needing more time, like hacked sites or overdue upgrades, we provide additional estimates and guidance. MODX Diagnostics cost $99 for standard business hours support (US Central Time), or $500 for priority, rush or after-hours emergencies.

If you don’t have budget for professional support from the source, you look for answers in the MODX Forums or Documentation, or seek help from MODXers in the Community Slack, or from MODX Professionals near you.
